Kiehl’s, a brand I know so many people swear by and a brand where a lot of people’s ‘hero’ products come from. Would you be surprised to know that it is also a brand I have never tried anything from until very recently? I know! Shock horror. I told someone this not too long ago and they genuinely choked on their tea. After realising how bad it was that I’d never tried anything from this brand, I got my hands on their Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Masque. Yes I know this isn’t a new product to a lot of people, and some of you may even be reading this now thinking ‘Yeah, been there, done that’, but it is of course new to me, and oh boy I was excited to give it a try!
With it’s luminous orange packaging it’s definitely a product you can’t miss sitting on the shelf. It’s eye catching and vibrant, yet simple design is just what I want out of a skincare brand. I know packaging isn’t everything, but first impressions count right? I also know you should never judge a book by it’s cover, but there’s something about simplistic, almost clinical, packaging of skincare products that makes me feel like it might actually be better for my skin than a product with overly fancy packaging.
As for the product itself, it claims to be an ‘instant facial’ that will brighten and energise your skin in minutes. Formulated with Cranberry and Turmeric it helps to visibly even skin tone whilst exfoliating to give smoother and brighter skin.
I have to say this, because it’s all I’ve thought of from the moment I got this product:
Turmeric is what I put in my curry… Right? And I’m about to put this on my face!? Are we all sure this is safe? Am I going to be left with a yellow face?! HELP ME!
OK so ignoring my mild panic above, I of course got stuck in and gave this product a go. The masque was wonderfully thick and creamy and really felt like it was nourishing my skin. The cranberry were a pretty good size to exfoliate too. I don’t know about you, but it can be so hard to find decent exfoliating products. Either the exfoliating bits (what’s the technical name for them? Help a girl out) are either too big it feels like sandpaper across your face or so small you might have well have not bothered.
The product has a very strong and distinct smell, so if you don’t like highly fragranced products this really isn’t for you. For me however, I love it’s smell and actually found myself sniffing the tub on numerous occasions.
I was impressed with the results of this product. I honestly felt my skin looked brighter and much more radiant. Although it was messy to get off (and I’m still unsure if this is product or user error. I’m a crazy messy and clumsy person) it was definitely worth the hassle. I’m also pleased to report I wasn’t left with a yellow-stained face as I’d convinced myself I would be!
