My Favourite Drugstore Contouring Products

My Favourite Drugstore Contouring Products

I love a good contour, it’s part of my every day makeup routine. I feel contouring really helps slim down my otherwise overly-round football looking face. It’s worth noting that I have extremely pale skin so finding good contour products isn’t exactly an easy task. With the wrong product you look less bronzed goddess and more Stig of the Dump.

I’ve also learned to think outside the box a little. Just because a product doesn’t say ‘contour’ on it, or wasn’t designed for contouring doesn’t mean you can’t use it to do so! Take the Gosh Cosmetics Concealer Sticks for example. I have one in shade 005 Dark, several shades too dark to conceal with, but it makes for a perfect contour product! The stick gives me perfect precision to apply it exactly where I need it for a beautiful and defined contour.

Another product I love to use that isn’t necessarily meant for contouring is the Revlon Photo Ready Insta-Fix in shade 190 Caramel, again, far too dark to use as foundation but perfect for contouring! This product is a little chunkier than the Gosh Concealer Stick but I can still get pretty good precision for that perfect contour. This I think it a great alternative to the Smashbox Contour Sticks Trio!

A product I keep going back to is the L’Oreal Infallible Sculpt palette. I’ve quite literally lost count of the number of times I’ve repurchased this and I can’t get enough of it! Although the highlight side is wasted on me (I’m pale as hell so it just looks like foundation!) the contour is the most perfect shade. I love the creaminess of the formula and it always blends so well.

Speaking of palettes, Makeup Revolution’s Ultra Sculpt and Contour Kit is my go-to when I’m packing my over-night makeup bag. It’s so compact and with 3 shades it is the perfect space-saver! I’ll sometimes use these powders over my cream contour to set and deepen the shades, but using this product alone is also great! It’s perfect for achieving that natural, healthy glow.

Now no contour is complete without a good highlight. There are so many highlighters that aren’t drugstore that I love (Benefit – High Beam, I’m looking at you!) But we’re not here to talk about those today.

First up is MUA’s Strobe and Glow Highlighting Kit. This multi-formula compact is great as it contains both a cream and powder product in a light luminous shimmer. It gives me the perfect glow every time! I also love the mirror in this compact – I don’t know about you but sometimes I think the mirrors in compacts are a bit cheap and poor quality. This one is great! Another space-saving product for your over-night makeup bag.

My current go-to highlight palette is another product from Makeup Revolution. Their Radiance palette contains 3 gorgeous powder highlight shades. From subtle soft pinks to a more bronzed glow, there is a shade for every occasion!

Don’t get me wrong, I love high end brands but these little beauties prove you don’t always have to spend a lot to have a bag full of amazing, beautiful products.
