Today my blog is 6 months old! Quite literally to the day. My first post went live on Tuesday 21st June and I honestly can’t believe how fast the past 6 months have gone. Wow, half a year. What a half year. Happy half birthday With Lipstick and Love! OK, So I appreciate this isn’t a huge milestone but for me it’s important. I’ve learned so much in such a short space of time and I can honestly say it’s down to having this little outlet in life. Let me give you a bit of back story…
Those of you who know me well will know I had a blog long before I had Jack, I didn’t handle pregnancy very well and got serious baby blues and threw the towel in on the whole blogging thing. Even though it was something I really enjoyed I just couldn’t think straight enough to string a sentence together, let alone write a post! Anyway, fast forward a few years. I mentally kicked myself on a daily basis for not keeping up blogging, I always wondered ‘where would I be now if I just stuck at it?’ and to be honest, it killed me a little. It was actually Spence who kicked my arse into shape and told me to get back into it and you know what, without him doing that I probably wouldn’t be doing this now.
Spence giving me that push I needed has meant that I’m back doing something that I’m passionate about. Today I wanted to share with a handful of things I’ve learned in 6 months of blogging:
- Things change – your space, your friends, your opinions
- Juggling a busy life, job and blog is tough
- It’s important to remember what you’re doing and why
- The more you write the more ideas you’ll get
- If you don’t feel OK with something, don’t do it
- It’s OK to take a break
- Just because you can make money doesn’t mean you have to
- Blogging is great, especially when done with genuine passion
- Blogging should be enjoyable and not a chore
I really believe I’ve come so far in the past 6 months. My photo’s are better (still not great and some still a little dodgy, but better!) my content is more frequent and consistent, and I’ve got to know so many lovely people in the blogging community. I’m so proud of my stats, across all of my social accounts ( Bloglovin / Pinterest / Facebook / Twitter / Instagram / Snapchat ) a huge 2,500 of you keep up to date with whats happening on With Lipstick and Love. Thank you all so much, it means the world.
As 2016 comes to an end I’m excited for what 2017 holds. For both my family life and for my blog, I’m excited to continue share with you all the little things that happen in my life and to get to know more of you in the blogging community.
